This minor product design project involved creating a coffee grinder and la cafetier by blending
the distinctive style of a chosen designer with a personal design approach. The process focused
on analysing the designer’s key aesthetics, materials, and forms, then re-interpreting those
elements through an individual creative lens. The result is a unique product that reflects both
the influence of an established design language and the designer’s own emerging identity,
combining functionality with a strong visual narrative.
Designer
Kenya Hara is a well known Japanese designer, curator and author who
is known for his minimalist design philosophy. He is the art director of
MUJI, a Japanese retail company with stores worldwide. Hara’s work
explores traditional Japanese aesthetics and functionality in the
modern world, making him a global influence in the design world.
