This minor product design project involved creating a coffee grinder and la cafetier by blending
the distinctive style of a chosen designer with a personal design approach. The process focused
on analysing the designer’s key aesthetics, materials, and forms, then re-interpreting those
elements through an individual creative lens. The result is a unique product that reflects both
the influence of an established design language and the designer’s own emerging identity,
combining functionality with a strong visual narrative.
Designer
Karim Rashid’s design style is bold, futuristic, and fluid, known for its use
of vibrant colours, smooth organic forms, and glossy synthetic materials.
His work focuses on creating emotionally engaging, user-friendly
products. This influence is reflected in the design of the la cafetiere and
coffee press through soft, flowing shapes, a bright, energetic colour
palette, and a sleek, modern finish—transforming everyday
coffee-making into a visually striking experience.
