This minor product design project involved creating a coffee grinder and la cafetier by blending
the distinctive style of a chosen designer with a personal design approach. The process focused
on analysing the designer’s key aesthetics, materials, and forms, then re-interpreting those
elements through an individual creative lens. The result is a unique product that reflects both
the influence of an established design language and the designer’s own emerging identity,
combining functionality with a strong visual narrative.
Designer
Spencer Nugent’s design style is dynamic, expressive, and purposeful,
known for its emphasis on sketch-driven ideation, clean lines, and
impactful storytelling. His work centers on creating designs that
communicate clearly and inspire creativity through fluid marker
renderings and bold visual language. This influence is reflected in
the design of the La Cafetière and coffee press through confident
line work, functional yet sleek forms, and a thoughtful blend of utility
and aesthetic appeal.
